The short version
- No account is needed, and EmuHall has no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies.
- Your games, saves, library and settings stay on your device. EmuHall never uploads your game files.
- Online features (game details, RetroAchievements, PlayerHall, update checks) are used only to do what they say.
- Feedback is sent only when you press send, and you choose whether to attach a diagnostic report or contact details.
- We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
1. Who is responsible
Braza IO Capital Holding (“Braza IO”, “we”), established in Brazil, is the controller of the personal data described here for the EmuHall application and getemuhall.com. Contact us through brazaholding.com, naming EmuHall. This policy applies under Brazil’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) and, where it applies to you, the EU and UK GDPR and similar laws.
2. What stays on your device
Your library (the games EmuHall finds, their titles, consoles and file locations), saves, save states, screenshots, play time, settings, controller profiles and downloaded artwork are stored only on your device: in the EmuHall folder for the portable version, or in your user’s application-data folder for the installed version. We cannot see them.
If you sign in to RetroAchievements or add your own RAWG key, EmuHall stores the resulting token or key on your device, encrypted for your Windows user account where Windows is used. Your RetroAchievements password is sent directly to RetroAchievements to sign in and is not stored.
3. When EmuHall goes online
Every connection discloses technical information to the server you reach, such as your IP address, the time and EmuHall’s version in its user agent. Beyond that, each feature sends only the following:
- Game artwork and details. To find covers and descriptions, EmuHall sends a game’s recognized title, its console and catalog identifiers to our game catalog, hosted on Supabase and using data from RAWG and other game-data sources. Your files, file names, folders and file fingerprints are not sent. Images are then downloaded from the catalog’s image hosts. If you add your own RAWG key in Settings, these lookups go directly to RAWG under its terms instead.
- RetroAchievements (optional). When you sign in, EmuHall talks directly to retroachievements.org: it sends your sign-in, a fingerprint of the game you play so RetroAchievements can recognize it, and your achievement progress. RetroAchievements’ own privacy policy applies.
- PlayerHall (optional). If you link a PlayerHall profile, EmuHall exchanges the information needed for that link and shows your profile; game-detail lookups then go through PlayerHall. PlayerHall’s Privacy Policy applies to your PlayerHall account.
- Updates. EmuHall asks GitHub for the newest EmuHall release and engine information. GitHub’s privacy statement applies to those requests.
- Netplay (experimental). When you play online with someone, your device connects directly to theirs, which reveals your IP addresses to each other. Only play with people you trust.
4. Feedback and problem reports
When you send feedback from the app or getemuhall.com, we receive what you choose to send: the kind of report, your message, optional contact details (such as an email address or Discord name), and, if you choose, a log file or the app’s diagnostic report. The diagnostic report contains EmuHall’s version, your operating system, the number of games per console, the installed engines and the last session logs, with your user name and home folder removed before it leaves your device. Review it before sending; logs can contain game titles and file names.
Reports are stored in private storage on Supabase that only Braza IO can access. To stop abuse, your IP address is converted into a one-way keyed code used only to limit how often reports can be sent; the address itself is not stored with the report. We use reports only to fix problems, improve EmuHall and, if you left contact details, to reply to you.
5. The website
getemuhall.com is hosted by Vercel, which processes server logs (such as IP addresses, browser type and requested pages) to deliver and secure the site. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, and the download page asks GitHub for the newest release from your browser, so Google and GitHub receive your IP address and browser information for those requests. The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising tools.
6. Why we process data, and on what legal basis
- To provide the features you use (game details, update checks, delivering the website): our legitimate interest in offering a working product, and the performance of the service you asked for (LGPD art. 7, IX and V; GDPR art. 6(1)(f) and (b)).
- To answer and act on your feedback: your request and our legitimate interest in fixing problems; contact details and optional reports are given with your consent, which you can withdraw (LGPD art. 7, I; GDPR art. 6(1)(a)).
- To protect our services from abuse and to comply with law: legitimate interest and legal obligation (LGPD art. 7, II and IX; GDPR art. 6(1)(c) and (f)).
8. How long we keep data
Feedback reports and contact details are kept for as long as they are needed to handle the report and improve EmuHall, and then deleted; you can ask us to delete yours at any time. Abuse-prevention codes expire within days. Server logs are kept by our providers for their standard periods. Data on your device stays until you delete it or remove EmuHall and its data folder.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to confirm whether we process your data, access it, correct it, delete it, receive a copy, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and get information about who receives it. Contact us through brazaholding.com, naming EmuHall and describing your request; we may ask for proportionate information to confirm it is you. We answer within the time the law requires.
You can also complain to Brazil’s Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD) or, where GDPR applies, to the supervisory authority where you live or work.
10. Children
EmuHall does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Children under 13 (or the minimum age in their country) should not send feedback with contact details or connect online accounts without a parent or guardian. If you believe a child sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We protect data with encryption in transit, private storage, access limited to Braza IO and abuse limits on our services. EmuHall keeps account tokens encrypted on your device. No system is perfectly secure; tell us through the contact above if you find a security problem.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when EmuHall’s data handling changes, and change the date below. For material changes we will also say so in the release notes or on getemuhall.com.
